PT TOMORROW: NL West—Hoffman waiting in the wings

For a team that was supposed to have been crippled by the loss of Chad Bettis (RHP, COL) to start the year, followed by Jonathan Gray (RHP, COL) shortly thereafter, the rotation for the division-leading Rockies has been nothing short of surprising. It currently sits with a combined rotation ERA of 4.33, good for 14th best in the majors (after last year’s 4.79, 26th). 

The highly touted Jeff Hoffman (RHP, COL) was recently called up for a spot start on May 22, and proceeded to post the best start of his young career: with 7 strikeouts and no walks over 7 IP, giving up a mere 3 hits and 1 ER. That Hoffman stumbled in his late-season audition in 2016 should not sway his long-term outlook. Currently ranked #40 on the
