PT TOMORROW: NL West—Oberg looks to run with closer role in COL

After toying with the idea toward the end of June, the Rockies finally decided to make a switch at the back of the bullpen, removing Wade Davis (RHP, COL) and installing Scott Oberg (RHP, COL) as the primary closer late last week. Oberg owns a sparkling 1.53 ERA and 1.04 WHIP through 53 innings, but he has certainly been on the more fortunate end of the spectrum—with a 24% H% and 90% S%, explaining his more pedestrian 3.78 xERA. Oberg does a fine job getting ahead of batters (64% FpK) and generating swinging-strikes (13% SwK), and he has performed admirably in high-leverage situations for the Rockies so far this season. He has the skills to run with the role for the remainder of the year, but it will be worth following...
