PT TOMORROW: NL West—Spangenberg on the rise in San Diego

San Diego Padres

The Opening Day outfield of Travis Jankowski (OF, SD), Manuel Margot (OF, SD) and Hunter Renfroe (OF, SD) was an intriguing collection of talent consisting of speed, power and good defense. A little over a month into the season, Margot is the only one providing a significant contribution, with a nice power/speed (3/4 HR/SB) combo and .274 BA (.264 xBA) while hitting atop the lineup. Meanwhile Jankowski was hitting just .160 in 50 AB before being shelved with a right foot bone bruise that figures to keep him out until June, and Renfroe continues to scuffle with a .200 BA (.217 xBA) despite 5 HR in 125 at-bats (as of May 10), suffering from a lack of contact (70%) and inability to take a walk (3%).
