Despite a thoroughly disappointing year after a wild offseason in which ARI picked up free agent Zack Greinke (RHP, ARI) and traded the farm for Shelby Miller (RHP, ARI), the rotation will return largely in tact for 2017. The breakout of Robbie Ray (LHP, ARI) has been a pleasant surprise for ARI in 2016 and if the Dom, Vel, and GB gains are for real, expect the ERA (4.46) to be lower next season. Full seasons from blue-chip prospects Archie Bradley (RHP, ARI) and Braden Shipley (RHP, ARI) round out the rotation, and with Greinke headlining, it is a formidable group—at least on paper.
