Dr. HQ: Another crop of injured pitchers

Ryan Hanigan (C, CIN)
Injury: Sprained left wrist. A cortisone injection didn’t clear up the soreness, so he’s now on the disabled list.
DL date: July 10
Estimated DL time: He doesn’t have a fracture and it doesn’t sound as though he has serious damage to the soft tissue of his wrist. He should be back in 15-18 days or during the last week of July.
Estimated 2013 effect upon return: Some struggles at the plate IF he has more damage to the wrist than we are being led to believe.

Yu Darvish (RHP, TEX)
Injury: Strained trapezius muscle.
DL date: July 7
Estimated DL time: A short rest and therapy should be enough to clear up the muscle soreness. Look for him to return from the DL in less than 19-20 days.
