Injury: Bone spurs right elbow; cortisone injection to reduce the inflammation and pain.
DL date: May 13
Estimated DL time: The hope is the cortisone injection will buy him some more time before needing surgery to remove the spur and clean up the damage. He’s looking at two months if he needs surgery in-season. It’s unknown at this time when he will return.
Estimated 2014 effect upon return: His defense will suffer along with his overall performance until the spur is removed.
Nyjer Morgan (OF, CLE)
Injury: Grade 1+ knee sprain
DL date: May 15
Estimated DL time: Unknown, because his knee injury may be more serious than expected. It could be up to a month based on the early evidence.
