Estimated DL time: He’ll rest 7- 10 days, then start long-tossing. Even without a setback, he could be out a full month. If it is only the muscle, the Yankees and Pineda likely have dodged a serious injury.

Matt Holliday (OF, STL)
Injury: Strained right quad muscle
DL date: July 30
Estimated DL time: This is his second trip to the DL with this injury. The first DL stint went from June 9 to July 12. Holliday could need another four weeks to recover, putting his return right around the start of September.

Dustin Pedroia (2B, BOS)
Injury: Strained right hamstring
DL date: Retro to July 23
