Injury: Torn left Achilles tendon
DL date: April 26
Estimated DL time: The standard recovery time is 9 to 12 months. This is one of the few injuries that has not seen improvement in recovery time in recent years. He’ll be throwing by the start of next spring training. But will he be ready by the opener?
Masahiro Tanaka (RHP, NYY)
Injury: Strained flexor tendon and tendinitis in his right wrist
DL date: April 24
Estimated DL time: We projected that Tanaka would struggle to stay healthy a month in our early March reports. The only surprise here is the wrist tendinitis—that isn’t the real problem. He now has a problem with the ulnar collateral ligament AND flexor tendon. They Yankees are playing with fire here....
