Troy Tulowitzki (SS, COL)
Injury: Fractured rib – right side. He suffered the injury diving for a ball into the shortstop hole. It’s painful to breathe and will be for a while. Movement with his torso will also make baseball-related activities painful for a while.
DL date: June 14
Estimated DL time: The first hurdle is how quickly the rib will heal and not re-fracture with activities. How much time he spends on the sidelines without working out will tell us the length of his DL stint. Right now between 5-6 weeks, but it could be a bit longer.
Estimated 2013 effect upon return: He may become more conservative in the field, preferring not to dive for a ball and risk another fracture.
