DR HQ: More big names to the DL

Injury: Partial tear of the ulnar collateral ligament – left elbow
DL date: April 8
Estimated DL time: Unknown at this time. The tear is "small’ enough the Rays and Moore may try the rehab route. It is rare that a pitcher can avoid surgery and return to form in this type of situation. It’s almost inevitable he’ll need surgery at some point this year.
Estimated 2014 effect upon return: If he does return, it will be difficult for him to pitch as effectively as he normally would.

Will Middlebrooks (3B, BOS)
Injury: Grade 1 strained right calf
DL date: April 5
Estimated DL time: A grade 1 strain should mean 15 or so days. However, calf injuries can be a tough ailment to shake. Look for a return closer to 21...
