As frustrating as it is losing players to unsuspected injuries, players with long injury histories can frustrate us too. There is a lesson here that we fail to remember sometimes: players with long histories should not be rostered unless absolutely necessary. The two latest pieces of evidence are Freddy Sanchez and Dustin McGowan.

Freddy Sanchez (2B, SF), who underwent labral surgery on his right shoulder last August, is having some soreness in his shoulder—again. The Giants state it is not serious and they believe the setback will only last 5-7 days, but anyone who has owned Sanchez in the past knows his recoveries are never smooth.
