Injury: Stress reaction, right shoulder blade. A stress reaction is a "weakness" in the bone but it’s not a stress or hairline fracture yet.
DL date: June 18
Estimated DL time: The Cardinals indicate he’ll have a couple of weeks to rest then he’ll be re-evaluated. Even if he gets the green light at that point, he’ll need time to rehab the shoulder. It’s not out of the realm of possibility that he doesn’t return until September.
Estimated 2014 effect upon return: Unknown at this time.

Estimated DL time: The Padres believe his disabled list time will be close to the minimum. If that is the case, he should be activated right around July 4th.
