GM's OFFICE: Insights from the Leading Indicators reports

One of my long-time hobby horses around here has been trumpeting the power of the Leading Indicators section of our site. Want proof? I wrote a version of this column in 2019, 2017, 2016, and even 2014 (back when I was writing in the Speculator space). In those prior articles, I've frequently touted this set of "canned" reports as the hidden treasure of the site: lightly trafficked, but heavy in value.

This week, when I dusted off this topic, I noticed something I should have noticed a long time ago: we aren't doing a great job of keeping these reports current. I noticed some dated standards, like 85% contact rates as a target (almost unattainable in this age), and a 5.6 k/9 for pitchers (heck, even Anthony Rizzo gets more strikeouts...
