GM's OFFICE: Player "To-Do" List—Jon Gray

On my desk, I have a piece of scrap paper. On it, there's a handwritten group of player names in “To-Do” list style. 

They are players that I want to get to know better, and somewhere along the way, I scribbled their names onto this list. The trigger might have been a stray highlight reel, or a single (or repeated) box score, or a social media post, or a question from a chat. Anything enough for me to think, “You know, I need to examine this player closer for myself,” so I can better evaluate what that player might become in the future.

Like many of our traditional To-Do lists, though, there are plenty of times when the scrap of paper gets buried, lost, or surpassed by more pressing items. While I have the best of intentions to know...
