GM's OFFICE: Rookie pitchers, by the numbers

It’s the time of year when we’re all looking for an edge. Those one or two nuggets that will help us at the draft table, to get us off on the right foot for the 2018 season. The way that rookies have seemed to gain traction over the past several years, maybe investing in a few of the right ones could be that edge.

Not so fast. When doing list-work for the 2018 Baseball Forecaster, I had Ray pull a list of R$ figures for all 2017 rookies. One portion of the list stood out to me: there were only eight rookie pitchers last year who earned positive dollar value, and none earned more than $6.  (Quick caveat: R$ throughout the column is for 15-team mixed leagues from the BHQ stats archive. Also, for this exercise, we are excluding players...
