In-season "DN"side projections, 2026

“UP:” and "DN:" projections are normally reserved for the Baseball Forecaster, but in the Speculator, we’re jumping the gun with some in-season updates. From the book:

Upside (UP) and downside (DN) statistical potential appears for some players; these are less grounded in hard data and more speculative of skills potential.

Last week, we put together an in-season "UP:" list based on what we’ve seen so far in 2026. This week, we’ll flip to the more pessimistic side of the coin with a revised "DN:" list. Note that some of the DN: projections may be in line with, or even better than, a player’s YTD stat line. Take these as “sell low” recommendations, where the skills hint at continued struggles throughout the summer.
