SPECULATOR: Early 2019 hidden injuries

Brian Dozier, who was in the midst of the worst season of his seven-year career, suddenly reveals that he'd been suffering through a severe bone bruise in his right knee... since April!

It was a plausible explanation—Dozier had previously been one of the more consistent hitters in baseball, with double-digit HR/SB in each of the previous six seasons—but the admission didn't help owners who stuck with him all year, not knowing there was an underlying injury all along.

Dozier's case isn't uncommon, as we're often forced to make roster decisions with incomplete information. Sometimes the player keeps a nagging injury from the club so he can stay on the field; other times, the team shields it or fails to disclose its full...
