September can also be oh so maddening.

We're nearing the time of year when many playing time projections become a crapshoot—rosters will expand, starters will be shut down or rested for October, and call-ups will get extended looks as they audition for 2020 roles. The good news? There's plenty of value to glean if we plan for the chaos.
