SPECULATOR: Skills searching for roles, 2018

One year ago today, this was Whit Merrifield's season-to-date stat line:

AB AVG R RBI HR SB
==  ====  ==  ===  ==  ==
25  .240   2   2    1   1

Merrifield had just been recalled from AAA-Omaha to contend with Raul (Adalberto) Mondesi for the 2B gig in KC. A seemingly negligible entry, the last of nine in our April 18, 2017 PT Today column, turned out to have major fantasy implications as Merrifield would enjoy a breakout season that didn't really get going until May.
