The Athletics recalled the 29-year-old after their trading of two relievers to the Nationals on July 16. Castro has been in the majors on previous occasions—in 2013 with the White Sox and 2015 with the Rockies. He has a career 4.76 ERA, 4.2 Ctl and 7.9 during those big league stints. The Athletics are Castro’s fourth organization. He was originally signed and developed by the Padres before heading to Chicago and then Colorado prior to signing with Oakland.
