The Rockies summoned the 21-year-old left-handed hitter from High-A to serve as a starting outfielder over the last four games of the season. Ortega is a short and athletic outfielder who has shown continuous improvement throughout his career. Mostly known for his speed and defense, he has turned himself into a solid hitter with a nice approach at the plate. He makes excellent contact while showing a more professional approach. Ortega’s swing path and strength likely won’t lead to much power down the road, but he has enough punch in his swing to keep defenses honest. He has blazing speed, though he could improve his baserunning. Ortega plays above average defense in CF with plus range....
