The 2026 Draft was a memorable one for the players who were drafted, the teams who drafted the players, and the writers who were present for the event at the Philadelphia Convention Center. My favorite part was when several of us were told that 'we didn’t have to go home, but we couldn’t stay here' right after the televised portion of the draft ended, which wasn’t the case in prior drafts that I covered. If you were watching on MLB.com, you know they started taking down the set with load equipment sometime during the 3rd round, lasting until the end of day one coverage.
Unlike the previous two years, the media knew who was being taken a couple hours before the draft. The first four picks were chalk with the four best prospects...
