The Asheville Tourists (High-A Astros) were in town last week for a series. While I only got out to one game due to some weather and other obligations, I scouted the entire series on MILB TV.

The Asheville affiliate is an interesting scout. It’s one of the affiliates in baseball where evaluators and fantasy managers get too caught up in the stat line. Having visited McCormick Field, where the movie Bull Durham was shot, it’s easy to see why hitters thrive and pitchers tend to struggle. The dimensions are as follows in feet:

LF: 326
LCF: 370
C: 373
RCF: 320
RF: 297

There is a 36-foot fence in RF, which tries to even play somewhat. It doesn’t really help. So many popups end up HR in the park, thus fueling...
