BATTING: Adjusted Mayberry, Part II

In a Roto strategy column last week, we looked at using numerical values for Mayberry Method (MM) Reliability scores (Rel), as a way to refine the overall MM score to reflect the Rel risk factors of Health, Experience and Consistency.

In the article, we calculated every batter’s Rel “bonus” (or penalty), based on his three Rel letter grades:

Each “A” grade was worth +10% (x1.1), each “B” was +5% (x1.05), each “C” was +0% (x1.0), each “D” was -10% (x0.9), and each “F” was -20% (x0.8).

These bonuses (or penalties) were multiplied together. Then the product was multiplied by the original MM overall score to give an Adjusted MM score (AdjMM), which was then use to re-rank the batters, now with their Reliability accounted for.
