Spotlight: Bryan Woo

INTRODUCTION

In his young career, Bryan Woo has posted some impressive real-baseball and fantasy results. But a close study shows that while Woo does have a useful collection of skills—excellent command first among them—those skills establish more of a floor than a ceiling.

And that ceiling could well be lower than many fantasy managers might expect. He has an array of slightly above-average pitches, but still hasn’t established a dominant pitch, especially for left-handed hitters (LHH). As a result, he gives up more hard contact than we would expect from a fantasy SP1 or even SP2—and the hard contact issue is, ironically, exacerbated by his super-elite control.
