F/F SPOTLIGHT: Tyler Glasnow

Tyler Glasnow (RHP, TAM) was selected in the fifth round of the 2011 MLB amateur draft by the Pittsburgh Pirates out of William S. Hart High School in Santa Clarita, California. He first appeared on our Pirates Organization Report in 2013 with an 8D rating and ranked as the team’s 9th-best prospect. He ascended to a 9C rating and status as the team’s top prospect in 2015, and was ranked 8th in our HQ100 list in 2017. He ultimately made his MLB debut on July 7, 2016 as a 22-year-old, logging a 4.50 ERA in 23 MLB innings that season. As our 2017 Organization Report detailed:

Dominated at AAA, but a shoulder injury limited him once in the majors. Has a plus-plus 93-95 mph FB that tops out 98 mph. Gets good downhill tilt from his 6-7 frame...
