While many lament scarcity at third base, you will find just as many options as first basemen.  Whether good or bad, you see a similar dropoff after after the top eleven or so go off the board.   If you miss them, plenty of risky players with upside remain later in the draft.

Round One

After a few years where several third basemen could arguably be selected late in round one or early in round two, in 2012 only Jose Bautista (3B, TOR) and  Evan Longoria (3B, TAM) reflect that value.

Bautista goes fourth, on average, which may end up a bit disappointing to his owners.  His PX dropped a little , particularly in the second half of 2011.  Same with his contact rate, which fell to...
