STARTERS: Early Sell High Targets 2013

We tend to stand pat with starting pitchers we own who get off to quick starts, since doing so acknowledges that we were smart in our drafts or when making our keeper lists.

But doing so for all of our hot April starting pitchers is a risky approach.

Many of those who have jumped out to quick starts have done so without underlying skill support, meaning they are likely to see their surface stats regress.

Let's search for these early season flukes by looking at the following skill-based indicators:

  • Expected ERA vs. ERA
  • Fastball Velocity April 2012 vs. April 2013
  • Swinging Strike Rate April 2012 vs. April 2013
