Miguel Cabrera answered critics of his off-field behavior last season by earning his first batting title, producing yet another 30-100-.300+ season. Cabrera is being challenged to shift back to 3B, his primary position in the early years of his career before joining DET. Potential 3B eligibility would further enhance the perceived value of this perennial Triple Crown threat.

Despite all the advanced forecasting models out there, we do a pretty crappy job of projecting player stats. Rather than continuing to bang our heads against walls in quest of a level of precision we can never achieve, the Mayberry Method is designed to simplify our efforts. Mayberry embraces imprecision and invites the wide error bars into the planning process.

After signing a seven-year, $142M contract prior to 2011, Carl Crawford suffered through a miserable first year in Boston. After years of putting up consistently high batting averages and stolen base totals in TAM, he hit just .255 with 18 steals in 506 at-bats. The odds of a full rebound appear to be decreasing.
