The Santana Plan is a fantasy baseball roster construction strategy. The Santana Plan is similar to the LIMA Plan except that it advocates that one purchases an elite starter or "Santana Plan anchor." In this article, we will review the Santana Plan strategy. We now have a three-year track record at identifying Santana Plan anchors, so we will revisit how well it has worked in practice, and conclude by identifying the Santana Plan anchors for 2012.

Last month, the Batting Buyers Guide examined hitters who had very poor seasons in 2011, looking at which of them might be most likely to “regress to the mean” of their weighted average performance from 2008-10. As with last time, we started by finding the batters whose 2011 seasons varied sharply from their norms, this time by doing far better than their norms suggested.

The San Diego Padres bolstered their outfield by trading two prospects to the Chicago White Sox for slugger Carlos Quentin (OF, SD). Quentin hit 24 homers in only 421 AB for the White Sox last season and had an elite 158 PX. He becomes San Diego's starting right fielder and should hit in the middle of the order. However, there are reasons to temper enthusiasm about Quentin's return to the National League....

The potential 50-game suspension of the National League’s reigning MVP rocked baseball and dramatically changed the early rounds in fantasy baseball.
