Even though some top prospects are biding their time in the high minors to begin the season, don’t wait too long to see them at nearby minor league affiliates, as major league clubs are willing to call up players regardless of arbitration deadlines or lack of experience. We have already seen a handful of elite prospects make the jump to the big leagues—including Jose Fernandez (RHP, MIA) and Jackie Bradley, Jr. (OF, BOS).

In the process of doing so, we will examine what fueled these breakouts or caused a player to struggle. This week we start with players who exceeded expectations and next week we look at those who struggled.
