NEWS: The Red Sox traded DH Rafael Devers to the San Francisco Giants for LHP Kyle Harrison, RHP Jordan Hicks and two prospects, OF James Tibbs III and RHP Jose Bello.
IMPACT: High
BHQ SPIN: Boston was facing a roster crunch with OF Wilyer Abreu and 3B Alex Bregman on the mend, but few figured it would alleviate that crunch by trading its highest-paid player and top run producer, though in another sense perhaps the writing has been on the wall since the team moved Devers off third base and then made an ill-received overture to see if he would be willing to try his hand at first base after the season-ending injury to Triston Casas.
