NEWS: Toronto signed RHP Dylan Cease to a 7-year, $210 million contract.

BHQ SPIN: The addition of Cease to the Blue Jays rotation signals that Toronto intends to make another run at a return trip to the World Series after their unsuccessful bid to defeat the Los Angeles Dodgers. Cease for his part is a workhorse who has thrown 165+ IP in five consecutive seasons. He had a confounding 2025 campaign where the positives—146 BPX, 16 SwK%, 97 Vel (all highest of his career)—didn’t quite outweigh the negatives—1.1 HR/9, 35 h%, 4.55 ERA. The end result was a -$1 season, in which he underperformed his 3.70 BHQ xERA by a significant amount. Cease should represent a huge upgrade over FA
