NEWS: Arizona re-signed RHP Zac Gallen to a one-year, $22.025 million contract.

BHQ SPIN: The free-agent market never developed for Gallen, who was coming off the worst season of his career. Despite making 33 starts, Gallen struggled to a career-worst 4.83 ERA (192 IP) while striking out batters at the lowest rate of his career (21.5% K%). Combine that with Arizona tendering Gallen the qualifying offer, and it made for a situation in which teams would have to give up a draft pick and hope for a significant bounce-back from the former All-Star. Instead, the one team that could avoid draft pick compensation will bring him back on a prove-it deal, allowing Gallen to re-enter the market...
