Mayer should get regular starts against right-handed pitching, spelled against lefties by either Romy González or, occasionally, Ceddanne Rafaela, though manager Alex Cora recently reiterated that he considers Rafaela “the best defensive center fielder in the big leagues,” so it stands to reason he might move into the infield only once or twice a week, tops.
