Mets lock up infield, sign Bichette

NATIONAL LEAGUE

New York Mets
NEWS: The Mets signed Bo Bichette to a three-year, $126 million contract with opt outs after each season.
IMPACT: High
BHQ SPIN: The expectation is that Bichette will take over third base even though he’s never played an inning there in his professional career. His arrival pushes Brett Baty off third except as a back-up to Bichette. For now, it seems Baty could be used in a super utility role. He’s played third and second competently and has worked out at first. He also started 29 games in the outfield in the minors. Baty has also been rumored to be on the trade block. Bichette’s arrival makes a trade more likely.
