NEWS: Righty Frankie Montas has been shut down for six to eight weeks with a high grade right lat strain.

BHQ SPIN: This news likely means Montas won’t see any MLB action until May. As a result we’ve reduced his projected innings by 25%. The Mets had been saying they planned to use a six-man rotation for most of the season. If they stick to that plan, that would mean Tylor Megill, Griffin Canning and, if healthy, Paul Blackburn would now be competing for two rotation spots.
