NEWS: Padres RHP Joe Musgrove will start the season on the 15-day IL after experiencing a setback related to his October 2024 Tommy John surgery.

BHQ SPIN: Musgrove experienced some elbow discomfort after a March 8 bullpen session and has been shut down for the time being, with a timeline to begin a throwing progression uncertain. Manager Craig Stammen said “We’ll miss Joe at the beginning, but we’re going to have Joe at some point during the season.” This would indicate Musgrove is certainly likely to miss more than the minimum 15 days on the IL.
