Nats send Abrams to minors in late-season stunner

NEWS: Washington optioned shortstop CJ Abrams to the minors.

BHQ SPIN: The surprise move was due to “non-baseball” reasons. This effectively ends Abrams’ 2024 season, one in which he had a great first half, but struggled a bit after the All-Star break. The Nationals recalled Trey Lipscomb, but it was Rule 5 pick Nasim Nunez who got the start at short yesterday.
