Rangers acquire Dempster, send Oswalt to pen

After declining a trade to Atlanta, Ryan Dempster (RHP, TEX) was instead dealt to Texas, who had actively been seeking an upgrade in their rotation.  It has been quite a season to this point for Dempster, who has a 2.25 ERA through 16 starts, after posting a 4.80 mark a season ago.  He is succeeding with a career best 2.3 Dom, along with benefiting from a 26% hit rate and 83% strand rate.  Despite the dramatic improvement in surface stats, Dempster's 86 BPV and 3.58 xERA are right in line with his skills from the previous four seasons.  Even during his recent string of five consecutive starts, a span of 33 innings without allowing a run, he had just a 5.7 Dom.  Dempster...
