Don't sleep on Matt Carpenter

Word out of STL—at least from the players themselves—is that both Lance Berkman (1B, STL) and David Freese (3B, STL) are ready to go on Tuesday after their short absences from the lineup. Berkman hasn't played since April 10 due  primarily to a calf injury for which he underwent an MRI—but he'd also been experiencing knee issues this past March and a reportedly minor hand problem during the opening week. After a hot start, Freese was out the entire weekend due to a finger injury that prevented him from gripping a bat.

Their returns will likely mean the end of Matt Carpenter's (1B/3B, STL) short run of everyday playing time, but he opened some eyes after collecting seven hits against...
