MIL trades Francisco Rodríguez to DET for minor league SS Javier Betancourt

The closer-needy Tigers found theirs in Francisco Rodríguez (RHP, DET), who has reinvented himself via the development of a devastating change-up. Rodriguez no longer throws particularly hard and isn't likely to be as effective as he was in 2015, especially now in the more offensive-oriented AL. But his 2.21 ERA and 2.76 xERA are at five-year lows, his Dom looks solid—in fact all of his Cmd, Ctl, FpK and SwK have never been better than they were in 2015. Now out of ultra-HR-friendly Miller Park, Rodriguez should continue to offer good closer value with DET.

Betancourt is a 20-year-old Hi-A SS who is at least a couple of years from being a productive MLB...
