PT TODAY: Rogers' starting role solidified in Detroit

Tigers

NEWS: Detroit signed C Carson Kelly and designated C Eric Haase for assignment.

IMPACT: Medium

BHQ SPIN: Kelly was released by Arizona earlier this month and now catches on with the Tigers. The 28-year-old, once considered the heir apparent to Yadier Molina in St. Louis, will try to revive his career in Detroit. The immediate winner in this transaction is Jake Rogers who now has the inside track on the starting role. Rodgers has big power (150 PX, 168 xPX), especially versus left-handers (PX 212), but he is hampered by a 64% contact rate. Rogers’ PT has been increased +10%, Kelly has been set at PT 25% initially filling most of the time vacated by Haase.
