| BHQ take: In a Sunday, July 19, mlb.com article, manager Robin Ventura said they made the move for pitching and cited Gillaspie's slow start and Tyler Saladino's current play. Gillaspie did begin 2015 with a .196 BA/.251 xBA in April but surged to a .305/.284 for the month of May.
