NEWS: Texas confirms CF Leody Taveras will open on the IL, but presumed replacement Bubba Thompson may not be filling in after all.

It’s noteworthy, though, that in the Rangers’ last two preseason tune-ups, usual RF Adolis García got the CF nod, and young UT players Josh Smith and Ezequiel Durán each got a start in LF (with Robbie Grossman moving over to right). Perhaps Smith and Duran were just getting one last look-see before roster cuts, but it seems odd that Thompson wouldn’t start in either of the last two exhibition games—the only two played at Globe Life Field—if he indeed was the...
