Reds likely to turn to Martinez with Lodolo on IL

Cincinnati Reds
NEWS: LHP Nick Lodolo was placed on the 15-day IL with a groin strain.
IMPACT: High
BHQ SPIN: This news puts a bit of a damper on Lodolo’s impressive return, although he reportedly plans to return after the minimum IL stay. Lodolo has been excellent so far; he’s posted a 3.34 ERA, .94 WHIP, and an 11.1 K/9 across 35 IP--with excellent metrics (2.95 xERA, 24% K-BB) to back it up. We will wait and see how this injury progresses; no PT adjustment for now--but we will adjust accordingly if this setback appears to drag on. Look for RHP Nick Martinez to get starts while Lodolo is out. Martinez has been serviceable in a rotation depth role; he’s produced a 4.86 ERA with a 13% K-BB over 33.1 IP. Reliever
