NEWS: New York placed closer Devin Williams on the 15-day IL with a right shoulder strain and recalled righty reliever Jonathan Pintaro.

BHQ SPIN: The Mets say the shoulder strain is not considered to be serious, but at best it seems likely that he will be out until September. We’ve cut his playing time projection in half and also cut his save projection to 50%, and that may be a generous protection. Pintaro has been shuttling between Queens and Syracuse this season. Normally we’d say it was unlikely he’d see high leverage situations, but with the Mets having traded all of the most likely candidates, it’s possible that Pintaro could be part of a committee.
