NEWS: Washington announced that Luis García Jr., will open the season as the team’s first baseman; that Nasim Nuñez will be the every day second baseman, and Andrés Chaparro will be the primary DH.

BHQ SPIN: While there had been murmurs this spring that García would get some playing time at first, the Nationals are going further and making him the every day first baseman. We’ve not changed his playing time projection (still 80%, primarily at first but a little still at second), but the switch leads to a significant playing time bump for Nuñez.
