PT TOMORROW: AL Central—Kansas City’s men of steal

Kansas City Royals

Stolen bases are increasingly rare in today’s game, but the Kansas City Royals are looking to buck that trend entering the 2019 season. Late-bloomer Whit Merrifield (2B, KC) hit the ground running in 2017 in his first full season at the major league level (.324 OBP, successful on 34 of 42 stolen base attempts) and in 2018, he improved across the board (except in the power department) as his OBP jumped to .367 and he was successful on 45 of 55 stolen base attempts. If Merrifield is able to maintain an OBP near or above .350, he has the skills to repeat his 2018 season. Maybe the power returns, too.

Slated for his first full year at shortstop, Adalberto Mondesi (SS, KC) is hoping to build on his September 2018 output...
