What might have been a dull September in Boston now has a bit of intrigue, given the signing of Rusney Castillo (OF, BOS). Though Castillo may spend a short stint in the minor leagues, the expectation is that Castillo will see significant time in Boston in September, allowing team officials to see what their $72.5 million has bought.

Castillo’s arrival will complicate further what already was a fairly crowded outfield picture in Boston. Given the recent return of Allen Craig (OF, BOS), manager John Farrell pledged to continue to find time for Daniel Nava (OF, BOS), but that may prove to be a challenge once Castillo arrives. Team officials have indicated that Castillo will ultimately land in center field, but the Red Sox...
